OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS REDUCE RISK OF AGE-RELATED HEARING LOSS:
A recent study has determined that there is an inverse association between age-related hearing loss, also known as presbycusis, and the intake of omega-3 fatty acids and fish. The study showed that greater consumption of fish, fish oil, &/or other omega-3 oils tended to delay or prevent age-related hearing loss. The research included 2,956 subjects who were 50 years of age or older and showed that those consuming an average of two or more servings of fish per week experienced a 42% reduced risk of developing presbycusis compared to those consuming less than one serving of fish a week.
